From about 2000 to 2007 we had Rick Briggs on banjo. What a great player and still a friend. Lives a good ways away. Sure love picking with him. This is a pretty cool stage shot.

Southern Rail - 1998 - Pemi Valley Festival in New Hampshire

Pemi is a great festival and we always loved it. I particularly remember this one because the airline had lost my bag and I had to drive a good ways south to buy clothes (courtesy of the airline). Made it back with only about 10 minutes to spare!!!

Southern Rail and Michelle Canning

I mentioned to this young lady as we spoke the first time that shoe should get a banjo and learn to play it. This was about 2 years later and she did an awesome job!!! She now has her own band and is performing around New England. Awesome girl!!! Very good picker too! Planting a seed is one of the greatest pleasures!!

Doobie Shea Studios - Roanoke VA. This is during the recording of "Wasting My Time" the first Southern Rail CD I appeared on and an awesome that I still enjoy listening to. The band is Jim Muller - Guitar, Sharon Horovitch - Bass, Paul Muller - Banjo and of course me on Mandolin. Paul joined the band at my request. It was a time when 2 players had left. I auditioned at Paul's house and said I'd join if Paul would too. Wow was that a smart move. Paul, AKA BigFoot, is a great guy who influenced me a lot!
